Vubiz announces a brand-new course to address new compliance laws regarding consumer privacy. The new elearning course, “California Consumer Privacy Act,” launched this week due to great demand from companies who must comply with measures by the newly passed bill.
The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) enhances privacy rights and consumer protection for California residents. The CCPA becomes effective January 1, 2020. Since many California companies already had to comply with Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation last year, some businesses are better prepared. Still, the CCPA or AB375 is the strictest privacy law enacted by a U.S. state.
The Act has significant implications for individuals and organizations. The bill grants rights to California residents to be informed about how companies collect and use their data and allow them to request their personal data be deleted, among other protections.
The law would apply to all businesses in the state that generate annual gross revenue over $25 million, derive at least half of their annual revenue from selling customers’ personal information, or buy, sell, or share personal information from at least 50,000 consumers, households, or devices.
The new course by Vubiz outlines the key provisions of the CCPA, underscores the new rights provided to California consumers, and reviews the implications for organizations that do business in California.
The course also recognizes the rights provided to California consumers by the CCPA, reviews the implications for businesses, lists compliance requirements, identifies sanctions and penalties for non-compliance, and offers a comprehensive outline of how the Act covers consumers, their personal information, and businesses that trade in personal information.
