Funding for
Business Expansion demonstrates that
a company owner needs to work through an objective process to
acquire funding for business expansion. In this module, you will gain an
understanding of the main funding sources; namely internal cash
generation, debt financing, and external equity sources, as well
as the key issues relating to a typical company’s funding
requirements.
|
 |
External Business Environment
evaluates and assesses the prevailing External
Business Environment by determining the opportunities and
threats within Political/Legal, Economic, Socio-Cultural, and
Technological considerations. You will learn how to complete a preliminary industry evaluation
by focusing on three key areas: (1) a description of the
industry; (2) the stages in the business life cycle; and (3) the impact
of driving forces. This is followed by an assessment of
the industry competitive
conditions using Porter’s Five Forces methodology.
|
 |
Internal Business Environment – Part 1
assesses the company’s performance and relative strengths
in Finance and Marketing. You will become familiar with
how to determine areas of
primary focus to improve financial performance and marketing
activities.
|
|
 |
Internal Business
Environment – Part 2
assesses the company’s performance in Human Resources and Operations. You
will learn how to chart the relative
strengths within Human Resources and Operations and determine
which areas to improve.
|
 |
Strategic
Direction
reviews a company’s present strategic course and
considers alternative strategies. It shows you how to select the
most appropriate strategic direction by (1) summarizing external
opportunities and threats and identifying internal resource
strengths and gaps for each option; and (2) evaluating the impact on
significant stakeholders; (3) considering potential best practices
to adopt; and (4) assessing the required resources to travel the
strategic pathway. As part of this process, you will also learn
how to develop implementation plans.
|
 |
Risk Assessment
teaches you how banks and investors assess risk. It helps you develop risk assessment skills by looking at a company
situation through the lens of a commercial banker. You will gain familiarity with a five step process that mirrors the
assessment process undertaken by a commercial banking team as
they structure the most appropriate financing deal, and assess
and mitigate any potential risks that could impact company
operations.
|
 |
Enterprise Review Summary
teaches you how to establish business credibility by
preparing an accurate, convincing and insightful Enterprise
Review Summary. You will learn how to (1) determine the most realistic funding amount;
(2)
understand the best allocation of funding proceeds; and (3) identify
the most appropriate funding source. You will prepare an Enterprise Review Summary (ERS) for submission
to a funding organization. This document summarizes key issues
arising from a review of the external and internal business
environments, a selection of the most appropriate strategic
direction, and an assessment of risks facing a company.
